Chief Executive Officer
Simon Castellanos joined AIS HealthCare as its Chief Executive Officer in November 2016. Simon brings over 18 years of healthcare experience having served in a wide variety of executive roles in both Finance and Operations. Most recently, Simon was the CEO of Western Dental, Inc. in Orange, CA, a dental service organization with over 200 centers throughout the west coast.
Previously, Simon worked for Fresenius Medical Care, where he held several executive roles including President of Fresenius Medical Services, providing dialysis services to over 160,000 patients through a network of 2,100 dialysis centers, 550 home programs and over 1,100 hospital acute programs. Prior to joining Fresenius, Simon was employed by Gambro Healthcare International LLC (now Diaverum), in Lakewood, CO. At Gambro, Simon held various finance positions including Chief Financial Officer of its International Division. Simon's international experience included responsibility for all financial and analytical activities for the division’s mergers and acquisitions, and SEC filings with Arcadis, NV, in the Netherlands.
Simon holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Bernard M. Baruch College in New York.
Charles (Chuck) R. Bell, Jr., PharmD, RPh
President and Founder
Chuck Bell, the Founder of AIS (Advanced Infusion Solutions), serves as President of AIS HealthCare. Chuck started in the Home Infusion industry in 1992 and since that time, has been involved in pharmacy and healthcare senior management and ownership, which includes owning multiple home infusion pharmacies as well as other healthcare related businesses.
Chuck received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from University of Louisiana at Monroe and his Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) from the University of Arkansas. He is licensed in multiple states and has over 20 years of pharmacy experience. Chuck also is actively involved with various industry and community committees and boards.
Chief Operating Officer
A native of Jackson, Mississippi, Michael serves as Chief Operating Officer at AIS HealthCare. As an original team member of Bond Pharmacy Inc., the predecessor to AIS which was founded in 1998 as a specialty pharmacy, Michael worked as a pharmacy technician. He transitioned with the AIS founders in 2008 as the company added Intrathecal and Home Infusion to its product line.
Michael leads the day-to-day pharmacy operations and manages the company's information systems. He continues to support the company by directing special projects, including being an integral part in the design and management of AIS's current state-of-the-art cleanroom. Michael holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from Mississippi College.
Chief Nursing Officer
Pam, a Registered Nurse and Healthcare Professional with experience in hospital, home care and specialty pharmacy settings, serves as Chief Nursing Officer at AIS HealthCare. Pam came to AIS from Ashfield Healthcare. As Vice President of Clinical Operations, her primary focus was the launch and execution of multiple national clinical programs. Pam's more than 30 years of diverse experience includes roles as National Leader of the UCB Immunology Nurse Team and Associate Director of Immunology Marketing; Senior Product Brand Manager for Schering-Plough (MERCK); and General Manager and Senior Director of Clinical Marketing for Option Care.
Pam also has held national leadership responsibilities, developing and launching innovative clinically based programs focused on patient adherence and persistency. She has a Bachelor of Administration in Marketing and Business Administration from Columbia College, an Master of Business Administration from William Woods University and is a member of the National Association of Professional Women.
Division Vice President
As a member of the Executive Team, Jud serves as Division Vice President. With 10 years of experience in the infusion industry, he started his career with a regional provider and helped develop its growth to become a leading National IG and Hemophilia provider.
Jud was previously Vice President of Infusion Services at Elwyn Specialty Care, where he built Pharmacy operations and developed a national sales team, until its recent sale. Prior to that, he served as National Director of IG Sales for CarePoint Partners and continued his national role when BioScrip, Inc. acquired the company.
Jud also served as Regional Business Manager for an Immune Globulin manufacturer, Bio Products Laboratory (UK). He has a proven track record of building National IG and Hemophilia programs. Jud received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of West Georgia.
Beat (pronounced "Ba-yot") Rychener
Chief Information Officer and Chief Technology Officer
Beat's 25 years of experience is primarily in healthcare, however he has extensive expertise in the development, support and management of highly scalable operational infrastructures across a variety of industries. Prior to joining AIS HealthCare in July 2013, he led two custom ERP software projects, one for SurePoint Medical in Kansas City and the other for McClinton Energy Group in Texas. As Vice President of IT at CCS Medical, Beat managed the IT infrastructure, including development and technical support of all computer, database and telecommunication systems and the design and implementation of multiple components of a custom in-house healthcare ERP/CRM system. He also has led and supported several mergers and acquisitions and subsequent infrastructure integrations.
Beat holds a teaching degree from the Federal Teaching College in Bern, Switzerland, a diploma in Computer Science from Systor Institute for Computer Science and a diploma in English Studies from Cambridge University.
Vice President of Human Resources
Julia is an accomplished, hands-on professional with over 20 years of Human Resources Management experience in the field of healthcare. Her broad range of responsibilities include talent management, onboarding, benefit and compensation administration, policy and procedure development and employee relations. In her role as Vice President of Human Resources for AIS HealthCare, Julia is a strong business advisor for managers and an avid employee advocate.
Previously, Julia has held human resource leadership positions for hospitals in Florida, Tennessee and Arizona. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration in Business Management from the University of Southern Mississippi. In 1998, she received her Professional in Human Resources (PHR) Certification and has been certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) since 2010. Julia also is an active member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) as well as the local SHRM organization.
General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer
As General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at AIS Healthcare, John draws on 20 years of experience providing legal, audit, compliance and IT security leadership to healthcare companies and integrated hospital systems. He has also served in key legal and policy-making positions at Aetna, the White House and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and is a frequent speaker on health IT, cybersecurity, patient privacy, government investigations and compliance.
John received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tulsa and a Juris Doctor and Master of Health Administration from the University of Oklahoma.
Vice President Strategic Planning and Development
Ross brings over 15 years of healthcare experience with a wide variety of finance, development and operational support to his position as Vice President of Strategic Planning and Development at AIS HealthCare.
Prior to joining the AIS Executive Team, Ross was the Vice President of Corporate Development for BioScrip, Inc., a home infusion pharmacy with 80 locations across the nation, where he was responsible for leading M&A and financing activities and establishing a planning and analysis function. He was also the Vice President of Finance at InfuScience, Inc, where he implemented various financial and operational improvements and prepared the company for a sales process.
Ross began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers and the KPMG Transactions Services practice in New York. He is a Certified Public Accountant and earned a Master's in Accounting and Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Colorado Boulder.
Chief Commercial Officer
Currently the Chief Commercial Officer at AIS Healthcare, Blaine has more than 20 years of experience leading sales and operations at healthcare companies. Prior to joining AIS in August 2018, he was the President and CEO of Evolve Biologics and, before that, led the North American immunology and U.S. market access organizations at Baxalta Incorporated. From 1999 to 2015 Blaine held sales, operations, marketing and market access roles at Baxalta’s parent company, Baxter International, focusing on the commercialization of plasma proteins.
Blaine earned a Bachelor of Science degree in public health from Texas A&M University, where he was a Distinguished Military Graduate. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps from 1993 to 1995.
Dr. Anish S. Patel
Chief Medical Officer
The Chief Medical Officer at AIS Healthcare, Anish strives to provide patients with compassionate pain management that can improve their lives and sense of well-being. He is known for his multidisciplinary approach to pain management, utilizing interventional, medical and rehabilitative techniques. Double-board certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine, he is currently vice president and managing partner at the National Spine & Pain Centers.
Anish received his Doctor of Medicine from MGR Medical University/Harvard Medical International in India, served as chief anesthesiology resident at Wayne State University and was a fellow in interventional pain management at Harvard Medical School. He also holds a Master of Business Administration in healthcare management from the George Washington School of Business.
Vice President of Process Improvement
As Vice President of Process Improvement and Project Management, Catherine brings more than 20 years of change management experience to her role at AIS HealthCare to deliver optimized operational performance. Her extensive Lean Six Sigma background has improved processes that develop, build and grow the company's organizational strengths, as well as enhance performance and profitability. Her experience analyzing data and evaluating trends ensures a proactive approach to identify improvement opportunities and solutions associated with potential market challenges and risks. Catherine came to AIS from Fresenius Medical Care where she served as the Director of Operational Excellence for North America.
Catherine attended Triton College of Business, Villanova University and holds multiple industry certifications including Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Process Engineer and DiSC Management Executive Coach Facilitator. She also is a member of The American Society for Quality and the National Association of Female Executives.
